Join us on ITS Europe congress

SOCRATES2.0 is presenting itself to the international ITS community dring the ITS Europe Congress (3-6 June, Eindhoven, the Netherlands). Different private Service Providers demonstrate a Smart Tunnel Service, which will be tested in the Antwerp region. And we are also demonstrating several intermediary roles to be deployed in use cases in Intractive Traffic Management, for example the Assessor dashboard for the optimal route guidance service in Amsterdam and Antwerp.

Project implements new "Intermediary" role

The public and private partners in the European project SOCRATES2.0 develop and test various smart traffic information and navigation services for road users, such as optimized navigation advice at major events and road works. The challenge is not only the technical realization of the services, but also lies in the cooperation. In order to shape the cooperation, six cooperation models have been developed, in which the role of the so-called "Intermediary" as a completely new function is implemented.

Kick-off meeting pilot Amsterdam

On 7 October 2018 FC Ajax, the music band U2 and Glennis Grace (Dutch singer who participated in The Voice USA) attracted more than 70,000 visitors to the event area ArenApoort in Amsterdam. The consortiumpartners and local partners of the SOCRATES2.0 pilot in Amsterdam got together in the middle of the event area for a kick-off meeting.

Looking back at ITS World Congress

SOCRATES2.0 partners unveil a key part of the European project SOCRATES2.0. In the showcase, a detailed, comprehensive and consistent digital image of the infrastructure and traffic situation in Copenhagen was created. The demo showed the power of exchanging and integrating available data and information.

Working together is showing guts

Collaborate. It seems so simple and we often are keen on seeing benefits. But actually doing it, still requires some guts. In the European project SOCRATES2.0, eleven public and private organisations have been challenged to try different ways of working together to realise smart traffic and navigation services. Consortium partners HERE, Technolution, BMW and the city of Copenhagen will unveil a glimpse of what’s coming up in 2019 in SOCRATES2.0 during a demonstration at the ITS World Congress in Copenhagen.

On 5 July several partners of the project were invited to the pilot city of Amsterdam to present themselves and explain the project. In this meeting, that was hosted by Amsterdam Practical Trial (APT), there was a panel discussion with the partners about the reason why they are participating in this project and their expectations and vision on interactive traffic management. Advisory Board installed

The SOCRATES Advisory Board consists of 4 members with recognized high level experience in traffic or mobility management, (new) public-private cooperation and/or (disruptive) business modelling. The members have academic, public servant and industry backgrounds. The Advisory Board will review the SOCRATES concept and provide advice on strategic long-term feasibility.
