Looking back at ITS World Congress in Copenhagen
SOCRATES partners unveiled a part of SOCRATES2.0
At this year’s ITS World Congress in Copenhagen, Technolution, the city of Copenhagen, HERE and BMW Group unveiled a key part of the European SOCRATES2.0 project. They showed in a demo how cooperation between public and private organisations can improve end user services, as well as contribute to traffic management objectives by considering additional information and strategies from the traffic management.
In the showcase, a detailed, comprehensive and consistent digital image of the infrastructure and traffic situation in Copenhagen was created. The demo showed the power of exchanging and integrating available data and information. HERE provides a unique data framework (and technological platform) that can incorporate and exchange the different data types and formats between the various sources. The City of Copenhagen and its road authorities deliver additional information, including construction sites and events, as well as detailed parking information. The BMW Group contributes anonymized real time information gathered from the vehicle fleet. Also, BMW Group provides the road user a service considering his individual trip preferences and specific traffic and environmental boundaries of a city, based on the shared strategic information. A win-win-win situation for road users, traffic authorities and service providers alike.
